The big thing is to make the subject relax the uses of Disney music helps alot everyone will start signing along and put them in a good mood. also have a drink with them and just talk let them get to know you. This will help them relax being around you as a photographer.
Five year old Bella Vandeventer was the flower girl at a friends wedding. When I shoot a wedding I try to get photos of the Flower girl in their dress. I uselessly take them away from people/parents and have them relax and tell me a story. This was at Alpine Ponds in Meridian, Idaho. Use what you have Nikon D5000 50mm 1.4 lens, F1.4 1/200 ISO200 at 4:31 pm using natural lighting. I try to photograph children by getting down to their eye level and see the world though their eyes. The rest is just luck.
After looking on Pintest website for ideas I came across the idea for trashing the dress photos in the river. I was able to talk the model into taking some photos in the river. Why not take a dip in the Boise river on a hot August 18th at 7:09 pm. After taking photos of the model in Julia Davis Park in Boise why not cross the bridge and take a dip in the river in a dress. I had the Model just start blowing bubbles in the river and this is what I came out with. Using what I have Nikon D5000 18-55 F3.5-5.6 Kit lens Camera settings of F5.6 1/100 ISO 200 and my on camera flash fired, plus a little luck.
